Osborne Clarke has advised FUNKE Digital on the acquisition of the two leading job portals praktischArzt and Medi-Karriere. The strategic acquisition enables FUNKE Digital to further expand its portfolio in specialised recruitment platforms.
FUNKE Digital, headquartered in Berlin, is the digital division of the FUNKE Media Group. Around 600 employees work here on the diversification of FUNKE in the digital sector, with a focus on digital services and digital publishing. The portfolio already includes the HR group with brands such as Absolventa, Azubiyo, and joblocal. The company is now expanding its recruitment portfolio through the acquisition of the specialised platforms praktischArzt and Medi-Karriere.
With more than 3,000 registered employers, the two job portals are among the leading providers in the job market for the healthcare sector in the DACH region and record over 2.5 million visitors per month. The portals have specialised in two different target groups: praktischArzt is aimed at doctors of all specialisations and career levels; Medi-Karriere addresses a broader clientele and offers job seekers information and opportunities for more than 350 job profiles from the entire healthcare sector. Timo Krasko and Michael Schmitt, who founded the company in 2014, will remain on board as managing directors after the acquisition and will drive the expansion into additional markets.
“We are very pleased to once again provide legal advice to our long-standing client, FUNKE Digital, on a strategically important transaction in the field of digital business models.
