Osborne Clarke has advised Capnamic on the Series A funding round of the greentech start-up Ocell. In addition to Capnamic, Bayern Kapital, Aenu, and Summiteer as well as several business angels participated in the round.

Ocell, founded in 2019 by Felix Horvat, Christian Decher, and David Dohmen, develops local climate protection projects that are transparent, measurable and effective. The Munich-based company uses, among other things, aerial imagery to create digital twins of forests with the help of artificial intelligence. These digital twins provide insights into forest growth, current CO2 storage capacity and other metrics, thus enabling optimal forest management for the long-term storage of more CO2. Currently, over 800,000 hectares of sustainable forest areas in eleven countries are managed using Ocell's software.

The start-up has now successfully completed its Series A funding round. The lead investor in the round, with a total volume of EUR 10 million, is Capnamic. Existing investors Aenu Ventures and Summiteer, as well as several business angels, have also reinvested. With the fresh capital, Ocell aims to advance its European expansion plans and further develop its AI-powered platform.

The Osborne Clarke team that advised Capnamic, led by Fabian Mimberg, consisted of Fenja Striesow (both Corporate / VC), Nils Wiehmann, Konstantin Axnick (both Employment), Christoph Boeminghaus, Daniel Jeske (both Commercial), Adrian Schneider, Tim Schmetzer (both IT), Dr Jonas Völkel (IP) and Maria Bibik (Real Estate).
