On 26 July 2024, the Polish Sejm (lower house of parliament) accepted the Senate's (upper house of parliament) amendments to the act amending the Act on Copyright and Related Rights and other acts ("Amendment"), which is intended to implement EU Directives 2019/790 ("DSM") and 2019/789. The deadline for implementing the DSM was 7 June 2021and Poland is the only EU country that has not implemented it yet. Below is an outline of the major changes in Polish copyright law that differ from the EU DSM standards and therefore require local implementation and adjustment to Polish circumstances.
