Caroline is an Associate Director in the Environment team and work for clients across a number of sectors, including renewables, energy, commercial, retail, residential and industrial developments. She is a core member of the Decarbonisation team and co-leads the Tackling the Carbon Challenge stream which focuses on decarbonisation regulation and policy.
Caroline's principle area of expertise includes all environmental aspects of complex corporate and real estate transactions, waste and bioenergy projects, infrastructure projects, climate change and sustainability regulation and waste producer responsibility law. She works with clients including property developers, energy companies, contractors and service providers and has experience on large-scale construction projects and projects within the renewables sector. She also completed a six-month secondment to the in-house legal team of EDF Energy.
Her typical work includes environmental due diligence and providing other specialist environmental input in relation to corporate and real estate transactions, for example advising on feedstock and offtake arrangements for large scale energy from waste projects, as well as providing regulatory environmental advice to clients across the business. She also works closely with the Planning team on areas such as biodiversity net gain.
As part of the Decarbonisation team she works with clients to help them tackle the carbon challenge, for example by discussing their approach to ESG or by considering the impact of net zero targets on their business.
"I have spoken to many clients who already have comprehensive carbon reduction plans, but there is no doubt that more can be done to up the ante. We need to get to a place, and quickly, where climate change considerations are built into every decision taken." – Caroline Bush for edie.net
Helping you succeed in tomorrow's world
Decarbonisation, sustainability and climate change are a core part of much of what we do in the environment team at Osborne Clarke as well as becoming increasingly some of the defining issues of our times. A key focus for me is discussing and helping to unpick the myriad challenges and opportunities presented with both colleagues and clients, as well as keeping up to speed on the fast changing policy landscape.
