Osborne Clarke's Netherlands team has advised leading hotel operator Dalata Hotel Group on the purchase of the entire issued share capital of American Hotel Exploitatie B.V., which holds the operational lease of the Hard Rock Hotel Amsterdam American.
The 4-star hotel, famous for its Café and Bar Americain, is centrally located in Amsterdam on the corner of Leidsekade Canal and Leisesplein Square, Amsterdam’s central district of culture and entertainment.
The hotel will be Dalata’s first hotel in the Netherlands and the second hotel in continental Europe, and the acquisition is in line with the Group’s ambition to establish a presence in large commercially attractive European cities. Dalata plans on significantly investing in the hotel and rebrand it to "Clayton Hotel Amsterdam American".
The Osborne Clarke team was led by partners Marie-Louise Weeda and Berend Zwart who was assisted by associates Angela Saldanha and Deniz Xinyi Bussing (corporate M&A). Other members of the Osborne Clarke team who assisted on the transaction are senior associates Charlie van der Star, Kim Hoefman and associate Benthe Janssen (Real Estate), partner Coen Barneveld Binkhuysen, senior associate Sophie den Held and associate Philippe Helder (Tech, Media and Communications), partner Jim Margry, senior associate Sabine van Baren and associate Rosalie Zwarthoed (Employment, Pensions and Incentives), and associate director Cees Graafland and associate Sjoerd Waagmeester (Tax).
The firm also recently advised Dalata Group on a London site acquisition at the start of the year.
