Osborne Clarke has advised venture capital fund VR Ventures / Redstone on its investment in Kertos. The software-as-a-service start-up secured a total of EUR 4 million in its seed funding round.
Kertos was founded in November 2021 by Kilian Schmidt, Johannes Hussak and Alexander Prams. According to the company, it offers its customers the first European data protection and compliance product that automates operational business processes and thus ensures automated data protection workflows in compliance with the GDPR and without data transfer outside the EU. As a so-called no-code solution, Kertos' offering also does not require any programming skills on the user side during implementation.
VR Ventures / Redstone that focuses primarily on start-ups in the areas of FinTech, PropTech and related digital business solutions for SMEs, led the recent seed financing round totalling EUR 4 million as lead investor. Seed + Speed, Pi Labs and existing investors 10x Founders, Superlyst and Xdeck also participated.
“We were immediately impressed by the technical excellence and vision of the Kertos team and are excited to now be part of their growth story,” said Philipp Werner from Redstone.
The Osborne Clarke team advising VR Ventures / Redstone, led by Maximilian Vocke, consisted of Dana Alpar (both Corporate / VC), Dr Lina Böcker, Philine Töpper (both IT), Robert Briske, Philip Funke (both IP), Neil Simon-Weaver (Data Protection) and Dr Jens Wrede (Tax).
