Osborne Clarke has advised the retail group REWE on the acquisition of 50% of the shares in the Trinks Group.
The Trinks Group, based in Hennef (Rhineland), has taken a new shareholder on board with REWE. Trinks is a beverage logistics service provider that primarily supplies food retailers, but also the catering industry, with reusable beverages and related services (sorting, etc.). Trinks generates a turnover of around EUR 1.6 billion and employs approximately 1,700 people in Germany.
REWE acquires 50% of the shares in the Trinks Group as part of a capital increase and thus becomes the fourth shareholder of Trinks alongside the German premium breweries Bitburger, Krombacher and Warsteiner. With REWE joining the company, future-oriented topics such as the automation of empties sorting at the various Trinks locations and the area of digitalisation can be further expanded and advanced.
The transaction has already been cleared by the relevant authorities and has been completed.
