International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised the shareholders of Digital Health Intelligence (DHI), a market-leading London-based media business serving the UK's digital health community, on the sale of its events, news and networks businesses to CloserStill Media, the fast-growing innovative producer of market-leading business events, exhibitions and conferences.

The intelligence business within DHI has not been sold and will transfer to a new entity, Future Health Intelligence (FHI) which continues to be owned and run by DHI founder, Jon Hoeksma.

DHI launched the UK's leading digital health event, Rewired, in 2019, which attracts over 3,700 delegates annually and connects NHS IT leaders, professionals and suppliers with health tech and service providers. The deal will include DHI's flagship event as well as Digital Health News, its leading health IT news service, and Digital Health Networks, with a leadership community of over 7,500 NHS IT leaders.

DHI will join CloserStill’s healthcare portfolio, which includes healthcare-focused hosted buyer events organised by OpenRoom and PNE, both part of the CloserStill Group. Hoeksma remains as chairman of the Digital Health business working closely with CloserStill.

The key DHI team will transfer to Closer Still and remain focused on ensuring the 2025 edition of Rewired is the biggest and best yet. FHI will take over the intelligence assets of Digital Health, including the recently launched Bevan AI platform.

"The Osborne Clarke corporate team, particularly Ken, Mythri, Rav and Courtney, were a brilliant legal partner throughout the sale process. They were consummate professionals, who had our backs at every stage of the transaction, providing vital advice and guidance.

As a small business founder selling to a significantly larger buyer, I felt that Osborne Clarke ensured we were on a level playing field through the sale. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.”

DHI was advised by Osborne Clarke's market leading corporate team, led by Partner Ken Wilkinson, who was supported by Associate Directors Mythri Reddy and Rav Sagar and Associate Courtney Cox. Elizabeth Shanahan advised on tax matters, Siobhan Murphy on employment, and Marie-Claire Day on privacy.

Ken commented: "DHI has established the leading UK event for the digital health sector alongside other fantastic news products and initiatives. We're delighted to have supported the DHI team through its sale which will see the media business seize new opportunities to further develop and accelerate grow under the CloserStill healthcare portfolio."

The team worked with corporate finance adviser Paul Slight at Sophnean Limited on the deal.
