On 11 December 2023, IDCM Netherlands B.V. successfully obtained its MIFID investment firm licence from the Dutch Authority for the Financial Markets (Autoriteit Financiële Markten, AFM).
IDCM is already active in the UK, where it has a strong reputation for Debt and M&A services in Real Estate, Social Infrastructure, Renewable and Flexible Energy and Core Infrastructure. With the investment firm licence IDCM will be able to expand its services in Europe.
In the licence application, IDCM was assisted by the Osborne Clarke team, led by Johannes de Jong (head of the financial regulatory practice) and Anka Langedijk (senior associate).
Other members of Osborne Clarke who assisted were Juliet de Graaf, Gijs Versteegh (financial regulatory), Jim Margy, Rosalie Zwarthoed (employment), Joanne Zaaijer, Dewi Harkink (data protection), Cars-Jan van Gool, Arlette Peer (notarial), Job van der Pol, Cees Graafland and Aram Hovanesjan (tax).
Osborne Clarke's financial regulatory team is known as one of the busiest practices for licence applications to Dutch financial regulators (AFM and DNB). They are particularly strong in the field of banks (CRR/CRD4), payments and e-money (PSD2/EMD2), investment firms/crowdfunding (MiFID2/ECSPR), cryptocurrency (AMLD5/MiCAR) and fund managers (AIFMD/UCITS). The team is also ranked in the 2023 editions of Chambers (band 3 fintech legal) and the legal 500 (tier 2 fintech, plus banking & finance: financial services regulatory).
