Osborne Clarke has advised German cloud provider gridscale on its acquisition by OVHcloud. The PaaS solution for hyper-converged infrastructures will enable OVHcloud to expand its public cloud portfolio.
Gridscale offers innovative IaaS and PaaS products and services in multi-tenant environments. The company is mainly represented in Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the Netherlands. A key competitive advantage of gridscale is the rapid deployment capability of a public cloud environment on a limited infrastructure.
Coupled with the extensive solution portfolio of OVHcloud, this advantage enables the group to grow flexibly in the public cloud market and to better control investments. As a cloud provider, OVHcloud operates over 450,000 servers in 37 of its own data centres on four continents.
Investors such as High-Tech Gründerfonds (HTGF), Endeit Capital, EnBW New Ventures and BLSW (managed by EnjoyVenture) have invested around EUR 8 million in gridscale, which was founded in 2014 by Henrik Hasenkamp, Michael Balser and Torsten Urbas.
The team advising gridscale, led by Nicolas Gabrysch (Corporate / VC), consisted of Fabian Mimberg, Maximilian Vocke, Benedikt Hülsmann (all Corporate), Jens Wrede (Tax), Sebastian Hack and Marco Aatz (both Antitrust).
