Coen is a Partner at Osborne Clarke heading the TMC team (technology, media and communications) in the Netherlands.
He is a highly experienced commercial lawyer based in Amsterdam with more than 10 years' experience, who advises on all sorts of non-contentious commercial law related matters, often involving the use of new technologies.
Coen has comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of legal topics, ranging from traditional (international) contract law and intellectual property rights to consumer law, IT-law, and data protection. His particular area of expertise involves the procurement of IT-services, complex software implementation and licensing projects, and white labelling strategies that safeguard IP.
He has extensive experience dealing with complex domestic and multi-jurisdictional agreements, acting for customers, as well as for suppliers. He also often assists with software and intellectual property licensing, (transitional) services requirements, and commercial law related issues resulting from (international) corporate / M&A transactions.
His client base varies from multinationals to early-stage companies, often operating in fast-moving environments and connected to fin-tech, e-commerce, technology, and the sharing economy.

Coen joined Osborne Clarke in 2014 after having previously worked for Norton Rose Fulbright. He qualified as a Dutch lawyer in 2011 and graduated in both International Business and Economics at the University of Maastricht and Corporate Law at the Vrije Universiteit of Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
