Osborne Clarke has advised FUNKE Digital, a subsidiary of FUNKE Mediengruppe, on the acquisition of the recruiting app Truffls.
Founded in 2014, the Berlin-based IT company offers job seekers and companies a job exchange for mobile recruiting. Using matching technology, job seekers are offered suggestions that match their stored CVs and can then get in touch with them using the “swipe principle”.
The FUNKE subsidiary FUNKE Digital is now taking over Truffls. The team of 30 employees is moving to the FUNKE Works unit, which is already home to six job portals. FUNKE is thus expanding its portfolio of online portals and apps for the recruitment market. In September of this year, the publishing house already acquired a stake in High Five GmbH from Vienna, which operates the portals iamstudent.com, studiumfinden.com and studiwohnen.com.
“With this acquisition, we at FUNKE are consistently pursuing our buy & build strategy - with now seven specialised portals for young professionals with several million users per month, we are already one of the leading providers in the market,” comments FUNKE Digital CEO Stephan Thurm.
“We are very pleased to support our long-standing client, FUNKE Mediengruppe, in another strategically important project with our expertise in transactions with digital business models and to provide comprehensive legal advice,” said Dr Björn Hürten, M&A partner at Osborne Clarke.
The Osborne Clarke team that advised FUNKE Digital under the leadership of Dr Björn Hürten consisted of Julian Baldus, Charlotte Mager, Dr Patrick Stadtbäumer (all Corporate / M&A), Konstantin Ewald, Leonie Schneider (both IT), Dr Timo Karsten, Karin Sültrop (both labour law), Dr Marc Störing and Neil Simon-Weaver (both data protection), Florian Merkle, Patrick Seiler (both tax), Reinhard Bunjes (finance) and Marc-Philipp Lücke (insolvency law).
