International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised infrastructure investor, developer and manager Equitix, along with the construction firm GRAHAM, on their successful bid to serve as delivery partners for the University of Manchester’s Fallowfield Campus redevelopment.
Equitix and GRAHAM were chosen as part of the consortium Viridis, which also includes the facilities and management firm Derwent FM.
The redevelopment of the Fallowfield campus will create modern, high-quality, purpose-built student accommodation, which will connect students with a range of support services to ensure a world-class student experience. It forms part of a phased redevelopment to increase access to modern accommodation and socialising spaces and provide a supportive residential experience.
Older existing accommodation will be replaced, and on completion the wider Fallowfield campus will offer up to 5,400 student beds and deliver 3,300 updated bedrooms to meet the growing demand for high-quality, modern bedrooms across the popular campus.
The Osborne Clarke team advising on this deal was led by Chris Wade and David Smith in Projects, with Chris Groves and Florence Dove in Real Estate, Nick Grewal in Construction, Matt Germain and Caroline Bush in Environment, Sarah Knight in Corporate and Tracey Wright, Elizabeth Shanahan and Helena Zaba in Tax.
Chris Wade commented:
"It's been a pleasure to support Viridis on this exciting redevelopment project with the University of Manchester. Huge congratulations to all parties, we look forward to seeing how the project progresses."
