Osborne Clarke advises Stark Software International and its shareholders on an investment by Macquarie into the leading energy data company

International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised BGF and the management team of Stark Software International (Holdings) Ltd on the sale of a minority interest to Macquarie alongside re-investment from BGF.

Stark is a leading UK energy data, analytics and infrastructure services business that specialises in delivering the best-in-class energy data experience for customers in the non-domestic market. Stark combines data and insights with the reach of infrastructure services to help customers manage their energy more efficiently and accelerate the energy transition across the UK.

The Osborne Clarke team was led by Private Equity partners Alistair Francis on the sale and Leanne Wright on the investment terms, with associate directors Mythri Reddy and Lottie France, and associates Matt Mayes and Demi Joannides, supported by trainee Oliver Derham. Partner Michael Carter, together with associate Maryam Khalifa provided incentives advice, and partner Mathew Oliver provided tax support. Partner Marc Shrimpling and senior associate Joachim Piotroswki provided input on the NSIA implications of the transaction.

The Stark family has retained a majority shareholding and Macquarie is partnering with the business to support the next period of growth.
