International legal practice Osborne Clarke has appointed tax disputes specialist Jack Prytherch as a Partner in its tax disputes team.
Jack was previously Of Counsel at CMS, where he helped to build their UK tax disputes practice. Credited in Chambers & Partners as providing clients with a “first-rate service”, he has experience litigating before the tax tribunals and higher courts (including the Supreme Court) and has helped clients to secure important changes to tax legislation. He will be based in Osborne Clarke's London office, working alongside Head of Tax Disputes Ian Hyde.
Jack's practice covers all forms of (direct and indirect) contentious tax matters, including: tax litigation and ADR; HMRC enquiries and compliance checks; HMRC civil information powers; tax offences and serious investigations; voluntary disclosures and penalty mitigation; and commercial tax disputes.
His clients range from multinational companies to high-net-worth individuals, and he has extensive experience across a variety of sectors, including technology, media and communications; financial services; energy and utilities; and life sciences and healthcare.
"I'm thrilled to be joining Osborne Clarke at a time of such strong growth for the firm's Disputes & Risk Practice Group", said Jack.
"Osborne Clarke's client base and renowned reputation within its key sectors, such as technology, media and comms and workforce solutions, represents an exciting prospect. I look forward to bringing an added dimension to the team to help further develop an already very successful tax disputes practice."
Ian Hyde, Head of Tax Disputes at Osborne Clarke, said: "We're delighted to have Jack join us. His experience advising on UK and international tax matters across a range of sectors will be an invaluable addition to the team."
"Jack joins us at a time of growing demand from our clients for tax disputes advice. Tax authorities are becoming more aggressive and the size and complexity of the issues we're seeing makes this a great time for Jack to join the team."
Osborne Clarke's Disputes & Risk Practice Group has 35 Partners and over 140 fee earners working across London, Bristol and Reading. It has grown significantly over recent years, seeing an increase of 24% in FY23 compared to FY22.
