International law firm Osborne Clarke has been named by Global Data Review as a global top 10 "elite" law firm for data related matters in the GDR 100 2023. The specialist data publication also named Osborne Clarke in its global top 5 of firms for data litigation.
GDR 100 2023 is Global Data Review's annual report on the world’s best data law firms.
GDR 100 2023 is the only global ranking that captures the capabilities, track record and market reputation of the leading firms carrying out data work. It is also the only data law ranking that does not exclusively focus on data protection and privacy.
GDR 100 2023 says: "Osborne Clarke is a recognised powerhouse on the European data protection scene. Tech giants form the bedrock of an enviable client list which extends through telecommunications, media and entertainment, politics and healthcare in a roster studded with household names."
Osborne Clarke partners mentioned in the GDR 100 2023 ranking include Flemming Moos, Ashley Hurst, Olgierd Świerzewski, Claire Bouchenard, Xavier Pican, Gianluigi Marino, Rafael García del Poyo Mark Taylor, Marcus Vass, Jon Round, Benjamin Docquir, Romy van Limpt and Joanne Zaaijer.
Flemming Moos, International Co-Head of Data Protection, said: "The GDR 100 is a thoroughly researched analysis of law firms and their data-related capabilities. It also recognises that advising on data extends well beyond data protection law to issues relating to the exploitation of data, including data ownership and licensing, cyber-security, and the broader regulation of data and data driven business models."
In relation to the litigation ranking, Ashley Hurst, Co-Head of the Cyber and Contentious Data practice said: "As data regulators around the world start to show their teeth, we are seeing more and more complex data litigation and regulatory challenges across our international data litigation team. The GDR has recognised the complexity of our work as well as some of the results we have achieved."
Osborne Clarke's data team provides comprehensive capability in both contentious and non-contentious data and information law issues, including data and cybersecurity compliance, incident response, regulatory investigations, data litigation (including post-data breach group actions), IP and bleeding-edge data matters such as the development of competition law to improve data-sharing.
