Osborne Clarke has advised VR Ventures / Redstone on its investment in the HR start-up Empion as part of a seed funding round.
Automating headhunting with the help of artificial intelligence (AI): That is Empion's business model. Founded in 2021 by Annika von Mutius and Larissa Leitner, the Berlin-based start-up brings employees and employers together using an AI-based robo headhunter. A match is made automatically based on information about corporate culture, personality and skills; the algorithm also searches for suitable matches on social media channels, for example. Empion finances itself through a subscription model: Companies sign an annual cooperation agreement and pay a fixed monthly amount, which is calculated in advance depending on the number of planned hires.
Now, Empion has received a total of EUR 6 million in capital from Cavalry Ventures and VR Ventures / Redstone through a successful seed funding round. VR Ventures / Redstone and Basinghall Partners as well as angel investors such as Robin Behlau (Aroundhome/Valyria), Constanze Buchheim (i-potentials) and Emma Tracey (Honeypot) already invested EUR 2.4 million in the company last year.
Empion wants to use the new financial injection in particular for research and development in order to further develop the AI-based headhunting solution.
The Osborne Clarke team advising VR Ventures consisted of Maximilian Vocke and Dana Alpar (both Corporate / Venture Capital).
