Osborne Clarke advised Industrie De Nora S.p.A. - an Italian multinational specialising in electrochemistry, a leader in sustainable technologies and in the emerging green hydrogen industry - in the acquisition, finalised in Joint Venture with Snam, of a disused industrial area south-east of Cernusco sul Naviglio and intended for the "Italian GigaFactory" project. The production complex will be used to manufacture electrolysers for the generation of green hydrogen, water electrolysis systems and components, and cells, and will occupy approximately 25,000 square metres, with a production capacity of up to 2GW.
The construction of the plant will be an opportunity to redevelop the area 'on a human scale', through the development of a project that adopts a modern concept of industrial architecture, based on criteria of respect for the environment and sustainability, through the generation of renewable energy, the use of photocatalytic materials capable of decomposing atmospheric pollutants, as well as light mobility and urban reforestation projects.
The Osborne Clarke team, led by partner Simone Monesi, Head of Urban Dynamics in Italy, was composed of senior lawyer Roberto Salis and trainee Beatrice Gavino.
