Osborne Clarke has advised Deutsche Bahn on the acquisition of a majority stake in CleverShuttle. The founders remain shareholders and will continue to manage the company.
The electro transport service was initiated by GHT Mobility GmbH, founded by Bruno Ginnuth, Jan Hofmann and Slava Tschurilin in 2014. The CleverShuttle application is based on an algorithm, which brings together various passengers on their individual routes to form intelligent carpools. All driven vehicles run on either electric, hydrogen or hybrid drive to help reduce CO2 emissions in urban areas.
According to Deutsche Bahn, the service is used by 70.000 users per month. The company aims to grow this figure and expand in the next year. It currently operates in Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Leipzig and Stuttgart. Dresden and Frankfurt am Main will be added by the end of the year.
An Osborne Clarke team led by Corporate Partner Nicolas Gabrysch advised Deutsche Bahn on the acquisition. The team included Sylvia Wörz, Nora Hendricks-Wirtz (both employment), Dr Andrea Schmoll, Max Wächter, Konstantin Sitte (all IP), Anne Gebel and Martin Würthner (both insolvency law).
Dr Verena Gattineau (corporate/M&A) inhouse at Deutsche Bahn also advised.
