Osborne Clarke's UK colleagues have shown their support for the growing refugee crisis by fundraising £41,500.30 for War Child, a leading charity specialising in providing life-changing support to vulnerable children, their families, and their communities displaced by conflict in Ukraine, Afghanistan, and Yemen.
The support will make a meaningful difference to the lives of children and families caught up in some of the worst conflict affected places in the world. The donation will help War Child to provide safe spaces for children to play, access to educational activities, meet urgent medical needs and have the chance for a brighter, happier and more peaceful future.
All donations made during the two-month fundraiser event were matched by Osborne Clarke and the UK government as part of the UK Aid Match charity appeal.
Yvette Leavy, Head of Partnerships and Philanthropy, War Child UK:
"On behalf of all the team at War Child, I want to say an enormous thank you to everyone at Osborne Clarke for supporting us. Your wonderful generosity will enable us to keep children safe and help them to recover from the trauma of conflict, whilst providing education and skills so that children can look towards a brighter future."
The fundraising programme was championed by Osborne Clarke's Refugee Aid Action Group (RAAG), which was founded in September 2021 in response to the mounting refugee crisis, in order to facilitate long-term, holistic support to those in need.
