At this year's JUVE Awards ceremony, held on 24 October 2024 at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the international legal practice Osborne Clarke was honoured as “Law Firm of the Year for Technology and Media”
Each year, JUVE Verlag recognises the most dynamic law firms and legal departments in Frankfurt am Main. At this year's ceremony, the IT team led by practice group leader Dr Flemming Moos was delighted to receive the award for “Law Firm of the Year for Technology and Media”. After 2012 and 2019, Osborne Clarke convinced the research team of its qualities in this category for the third time.
The jury's reasoning focused on several areas of expertise of the law firm, including: European digital regulation, digital consumer protection, e-commerce, IT contract drafting, complex litigation, and AI: “It has positioned itself as the go-to firm for digital consumer protection. A number of well-known e-commerce companies rely on Osborne Clarke to navigate the numerous hurdles of European digital regulation. The representation of Zalando before the General Court in one of the first cases against the DSA impressively demonstrates this. Its deep knowledge in IT contract drafting is also in high demand in the context of artificial intelligence. The firm played a central role in the high-profile funding round for Aleph Alpha. A client sums it up: 'A super experienced team equipped with everything needed for digital consultancy.'”
“This award is a great recognition of our market-leading expertise in areas that are at the top of the priority list for corporate legal departments and their leadership! We owe this accolade to our outstanding team and our highly valued clients, who have made this success possible by entrusting us with the most exciting mandates,” said Moos.
The basis for the evening's awards is the editorial research for the JUVE Handbuch Wirtschaftskanzleien, which was published in its latest edition on 25 October. For this, the specialist editorial team researches nearly 70,000 contacts in companies, law firms and the judiciary. The assessment: “The large TMT practice has consistently earned its market-leading role in digital consumer law advice. [...] The client relationship now extends to broad digital advice, including AI. OC also brought the necessary know-how in data and IT law and digital regulation to various AI projects, especially when clients were testing new products.” Competitors also testified to the practice's deep know-how in digital business, noting that it has particularly many market-recognised experts.
