Zhen Kai is an Associate in Osborne Clarke’s Singapore office. He delivers effective legal solutions to his clients with his blend of technical expertise and project management skills.
He acts for clients in technology-enabled industries and specialises in technology, data protection, cybersecurity, financial services regulation, employment, and IP.
His experience includes advising clients on their commercial contracts and is regularly retained to provide business-as-usual advice on MSAs, NDAs, general T&Cs, subscription agreements, and data processing agreements, including advice on IP rights protection.
Zhen Kai is also well-versed in the regulatory landscape for digital businesses and is often called upon to provide ad hoc advice on data protection, cybersecurity, payment services, and marketing and content law.
Zhen Kai’s portfolio also includes advising businesses on contentious employment and regulatory matters. Notably, he worked with one of the “Big 4” professional services firms in Singapore to develop and implement a bespoke, end-to-end, workplace investigations protocol and a disciplinary matrix for employee data breaches. He also worked closely with the DPO of the same client to investigate and respond to employee data breaches and advised on regulator and client reporting obligations.
On top of his commercial and regulatory advisory work, Zhen Kai also has experience representing businesses in the Singapore courts in commercial and IP disputes.
Zhen Kai graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (cum laude) from the Singapore Management University and was awarded the Drew & Napier Prize for the Top Student in Advocacy. He also holds a Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) qualification issued by (ISC)². He is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Computing Foundations at the National University of Singapore.
Outside of work, Zhen Kai is a keen supporter of the arts and regularly sings in choirs with his wife.
