Valeria has over 25 years' full-time expertise in the field of competition law.
Her work covers the entire spectrum of antitrust activities: proceedings before the Italian Antitrust Authority and the European Commission for cartels, abuse of dominance and other restrictive practices; merger control proceedings; appeals of decisions before the EU and national Courts; litigation before civil Courts in connection with antitrust infringements (nullity of contract and damages).
She has extensive experience in the design and implementation of antitrust compliance programmes and in the conduct of competition law audits for companies across several economic sectors.
Valeria has advised many clients on distribution issues and in relation to horizontal cooperation agreements.
She also gained significant expertise in the field of unfair commercial practices.
Valeria graduated with honours in 1997 at La Sapienza University of Rome and received a Master’s Degree (LLM) from the London School of Economics and Political Science, in 1998.
Valeria is ranked as Up and Coming in the Competition/European Law in Italy Guide by Chambers and Partners. She joined Osborne Clarke in 2014.

Successfully advised in the investigation proceedings before the Italian Antitrust Authority in relation to the project, submitted by the Bancomat S.p.A., to modify the remuneration model for ATM withdrawals with Bancomat circuit cards. Successfully assisted Consorzio Nazionale Servizi before the Council of State in obtaining the annulment of the approximately EUR 40 million fine imposed by the AGCM in the presence of an anti-competitive agreement. Read more

Successfully advised the client in a novel and highly complex appeal before the EU General Court, and subsequently the EU Court of Justice, obtaining a 60% reduction in the fine originally imposed by the EU Commission for a cartel in the steel abrasives sector. Read more
CNS - Consorzio Nazionale Servizi
Acted for CNS - Consorzio Nazionale Servizi in proceedings before the Italian Antitrust Authority relating to a cartel investigation concerning a very important tender procedure, with a value of €2.7 billion, and obtained a 50% reduction in the context of a leniency programme. Also successfully acted in the appeal before the Court of first instance and obtained a further significant reduction in the fine. Currently assisting CNS in relation to its appeal to the Supreme Administrative Court.
Major Insurance Company
Acting for one of the largest insurance groups in Italy in the proceedings started by the Italian Antitrust Authority for an alleged exchange of sensitive information on car insurance policies by price comparison firms and the main insurers. Read more

Wish – ContextLogic
Advised the client in proceedings by the Italian Antitrust Authority with reference to the sale of products - masks, test kits, etc. - for the prevention of contagion from Covid-19, as well as for alleged infringements of consumer rights. The Authority closed the proceedings without finding infringements and accepted the commitments submitted on behalf of ContextLogic. Read more

Acted for Grifols in an investigation launched by the Italian Antitrust Authority in relation to a temporary association for the participation in a public tender in the hemoderivatives sector. Further to our defence, the Authority closed the case without finding any infringement and thus without imposing any sanctions.

Advised in the creation of a JV, with FCA Italy S.p.A. (a wholly owned subsidiary of Stellantis), that will offer a full suite of services and innovative solutions in the e-mobility sector including Vehicle-to-Grid technologies.

Assisted FAAC – the leading Italian group active worldwide in the markets for access automation, access control and parking solutions – in the acquisition of Agta Record's automatic pedestrian door business in the Netherlands, Austria, Hungary and Slovenia and of Assa Abloy's automatic pedestrian door business in the United Kingdom and France.
Grendi
Acted for Grendi Trasporti Marittimi, a long-established Italian shipping company, in proceedings conducted by the Italian Antitrust Authority against Moby and CIN, which ended with a sanction imposed on the latter companies. Also represented Grendi in the appeals before the Court of First Instance and the Supreme Administrative Court.
Nuovo IMAIE
Acted for Nuovo Imaie – a major Italian collecting society – in the investigation launched by the Italian Antitrust Authority for an alleged abuse of dominance. The Authority closed the proceedings, having accepted the commitments submitted on behalf of the client, and without making any finding of infringement.
