Charlie is a highly experienced commercial disputes partner. He leads our commercial disputes team in the UK, which comprises 19 partners and over 50 other lawyers across our City and other offices. He is ranked as a band 1 / leading partner.
Charlie specialises in large, complex, commercial disputes and investigations, normally with a cross-border element. Over the 20 plus years of his career to date he has acted on some of the biggest disputes to hit the news, including various "Lawyer Top 20" cases.
Charlie Wedin understands the dynamic of technology litigation, is hugely experienced and is great at the big strategic calls. He is also thoughtful, intelligent and very easy to work with.
He handles a broad range of disputes, but has particular expertise in disputes concerning technology and the digital / online world. He is also an expert on contentious privacy and cyber security issues and advises businesses on investigations, regulatory issues, litigation, and risk and reputation management strategy, following major cyber security incidents. He has guided various global businesses through some of the biggest cyber and other crises reported in the media.

Charlie has a first class degree in law (plus a degree in international relations), and qualified in 2003.

Technology litigation
Charlie is regularly retained by various global technology companies and other household name organisations to resolve business-critical multi-million pound technology disputes. His experience under this head includes acting for Dell in High Court litigation to obtain anti-suit injunctions and defeat multi-million pound damages claims brought against it by former corporate customers.
Cyber security
Charlie is routinely called upon to support organisations suffering cyber crises. He recently advised a household name US headquartered global internet business on one of the biggest global cyber attacks ever reported, supporting the client with regulatory advocacy and the defence of an attempted class action.
Commercial litigation and fraud
Charlie is currently acting for one of the defendants in the PIFFS litigation, a claim brought by a public sector body in Kuwait and described as the largest ever fraud claim in the English High Court.
Investigations
Has recently acted for a London Stock Exchange listed company in an internal investigation into an alleged multi-million pound fraud.
Defence and aviation
Charlie is regularly retained by various global defence and aviation businesses to resolve multi-million pound disputes with contractual counterparties.
Mobility
Charlie regularly advises clients on disputes in the mobility (including e-mobility) sector. He has advised an electric vehicle manufacturer on high stakes litigation worth tens of millions of pounds, and is also often hired to act in multi-million pound disputes in the rail sector.
