UK Knowledge Collection | Green tech and world cities, regulating AI, and the ageing workforce

Published on 16th Jun 2023

Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

This month we are hosting a launch event for our case study with Economist Impact on the applicability, scalability and sustainability of three decarbonising technologies – digital twins, district cooling and vehicle-to-grid – currently being trialled in three cities  around the world. The opportunities these innovations bring and the regulatory complexities involved could inform how others approach their net-zero targets, as 2050 draws nearer.

The regulation of artificial intelligence (AI) has moved rapidly to the top of the international agenda, with multiple new initiatives from many quarters. While there is international consensus on the need for regulation, there is no consensus on how to go about it: with a tension between the approach of the EU, and that of the UK, US and others. Our Insight examines how the regulatory land lies in different jurisdictions, our data forum will touch on privacy and IP aspects of AI, and our webinar on advertising law will also consider issues arising from its use in creative services and advertising materials.

Finally, as businesses grapple with the impact of changing demographics and the challenge of recruiting and retaining skilled workers, next month we present the results from our survey with Censuswide on the ageing workforce, including what employees consider could encourage them to remain in the workforce for longer.
