UK Knowledge Collection | ESG compliance, mitigating AI risk, and cross-border data transfers
Published on 20th Oct 2023
The latest round-up of recent insights and upcoming events at Osborne Clarke.
A few years ago, companies were still grappling with what environmental, social and governance (ESG) involved; now the focus is on what they need to do to comply – and to look ahead to forthcoming regulatory change. Our Insight offers five tips for businesses operating in the UK and EU, and our "All-day breakfast" event, taking place in our London office, looks in more detail at the process of supply chain due diligence and the practical steps businesses can take to ensure they are compliant. The event also features four roundtables on the key issues of sanctions compliance, whistleblowing procedures, regulatory investigations and artificial intelligence (AI).
The governance of AI is also one of the themes of our Insight, which looks at the importance of understanding how the astonishing rate of technological advancement and the development of new regulatory frameworks affect business risk, and how these new risks can be mitigated with a mixture of appropriate systems, guidance and contractual assurances.
Next month, our "Dipping into Data" webinar looks at cross-border data transfers and the impact on business of the adoption of the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, the UK extension, and the updated approach of the ICO, the UK's regulator, to UK Binding Corporate rules.
