UK Knowledge Collection | Digital markets and eCommerce, forever chemicals and DSARs

Published on 6th Sep 2024

Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

The Digital Markets, Competition and Consumer Act has brought significant change to the consumer and competition law landscape in the UK, but it does not merely affect players in digital markets. The first session in our popular compliance webinar series, returning this month, will cover competition law changes under the Act relevant to all businesses.

Our in-person eCommerce Forum looks in more detail at the Act's practical and legal implications for eCommerce businesses, as well as what is happening in the EU digital regulation sphere. And our marketinglaw update covers recent developments for the advertising and marketing industry.

Reform of the regulatory regime around the use of poly- and perfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS, also known as forever chemicals) is on the horizon. The chemicals are widely used in many consumer products, but concern has grown over their environmental and health impact. Our Insight  looks at the issues facing businesses in the retail and consumer sector as far-reaching restrictions on the use of PFAS in Europe are anticipated.

UK data law is set for some change. Our Insight looks at what has been announced by the new government and at a recent case on data subject access requests. How to handle these requests (the subject of more than 15,000 complaints to the regulator) is the subject of our next Dipping into Data webinar, taking place next week.
