While some people were eagerly anticipating the start of the Euros, others were eagerly anticipating the start of the much-anticipated OC x JTC venture capital five-a-side football tournament. 

On 18 June 2024, for the third consecutive year, Osborne Clarke LLP and JTC hosted the event, which has become a cornerstone in the calendars of venture capital firms. The tournament, which took place at Haggerston School, nearly did not go ahead due to a damaged pitch. Fortunately, we were able to move pitches and the tournament got underway. 

Forget icons from the national teams of England, France and Germany, Haggerston School was blessed with seasoned players from Smedvig Ventures, Fuel Ventures 🚀, Octopus Investments, Love Ventures, Mountside Ventures, Salica Investments, Mercia Ventures, JTC, Osborne Clarke, True., and an "LP Allstars" team. Each brought their unique energy and enthusiasm to the pitch, eager to claim the title and the bragging rights that come with it. It was a close-run event, but Mercia was able to beat Fuel in a hard-fought final to claim victory and lift the trophy.

The event has grown significantly since its inception, which was reflected in the number of players and pitch-side supporters that were in attendance. Osborne Clarke's expertise in organising such events (special shout out to Helen Parsonage, Oliver Darvill and Eric Edwin), coupled with JTC's administrative finesse (special shoutout to and Martin Punt and Natalie Smart from JTC), ensured that the tournament was a seamless blend of competition and camaraderie. Off the field, the atmosphere was equally charged. Professionals from across the venture capital spectrum took advantage of the opportunity to network in a more relaxed environment. 

After the conclusion of the football, the teams made their way to a nearby pub to enjoy food and celebrations in equal measure.
