Osborne Clarke has advised D2C online retailer heute-wohnen-Gruppe on the sale of a minority stake to BWK GmbH Unternehmensbeteiligungsgesellschaft.
Founded in 2002 as an D2C online retailer for electronic products, the heute-wohnen group currently offers a wide range of home, garden and living products in its own web shop as well as in several marketplaces, including in Germany, Italy and Spain. The company employs more than 90 people at four locations; the administration is located at the headquarters and origin of the group in Welzheim, Swabia.
After the deal, Alexander Mendler will remain with the heute-wohnen group as managing director and shareholder. “It is our declared aim to maintain our strong company growth over the next few years. BWK, as a long-term investor, is exactly the right partner for us. We have ambitious goals and want to achieve them together with BWK and the employees,” says Mendler.
The team that advised the heute-wohnen group, led by Dr Martin Sundermann, consists of Lorenz Chwaszcza, Elisabeth Falterer (all Corporate/M&A), Florian Merkle (Tax) and André Braig (Labour Law).
