International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised Grifols on the acquisition of all shares in Haema AG for EUR 220 million. The acquisition is subject to approval by the responsible cartel authorities.
This transaction will reinforce the company’s global leadership in plasma collection by expanding and diversifying its network of plasma donation centers. The Haema donation centers will represent Grifols’ first outside the United States.
Grifols is currently the worldwide leader in plasma donation centers, with 190 centers in the United States. As an acknowledged market leader in the transfusion medicine, Grifols offers a wide range of diagnostic products that support the security of donations and transfusions.
Haema operates the largest private independent network of donation centers in Germany, with 35 centers in nine states, and offers a range of transfusion medicine services.
An international team led by the partners Tomas Daga and Matthias Elser advised Grifols. The team also included Oscar Calsamiglia (Corporate, Barcelona), Thies Goldner (Corporate, Hamburg), Janos Mahlo (Real Estate, Cologne), Piet Weinreich (IP, Munich) and Dr Sebstian Hack (Merger control, Cologne).
