Niels is a Senior Associate in the Amsterdam corporate team, specialising in mid-market private M&A transactions. He advises investors and investment funds, (inter)national corporations as well as founders.
His practice revolves around the Mobility & Infrastructure ("M&I") and Tech, Media & Comms ("TMC") sectors. Having acted on many high-profile M&A transactions, Niels has notable experience with companies in digital media, advertising, electric-vehicles and charging, software, mobility, MaaS and SaaS.
He is dedicated to building relationships with our clients and gaining in-depth knowledge about their businesses and the markets they act in. Particularly keen on advising on joint ventures, corporate governance, acquisitions and (private) equity investments.
Having joined Osborne Clarke six months after the Amsterdam office was set up, after obtaining his master’s degree from Utrecht University, in 2021 he successfully completed the post-graduate course Mergers & Acquisitions: Law, Finance, Skills at the VU Amsterdam.
Niels has registered the following principal and secondary legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
– Principal: Corporate law.
– Secondary: Directors’ and officers’ liability, mergers and acquisitions, companies, associations and foundations.
Based on this registration, he is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.

Advised the (founder-)shareholders of Nmbrs®, a Dutch company employing 120 supplying HR and payroll SaaS to around 2,000 customers, in their sale to Visma Group, a leading European supplier of business-critical software with HQ in Norway.

Assisted GitLab Inc., a fast growing Silicon Valley company, with the acquisition of Gemnasium. GitLab Inc. is the developer of GitLab, the leading self-hosted Git repository management tool used by software development teams ranging from startups to global enterprise organizations. With the acquisition, Gemnasium's robust security scanning functionality is integrated natively into GitLab’s CI/CD pipelines, allowing businesses to develop and iterate software faster without sacrificing a strong security posture.
