Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection
This week saw the chancellor deliver his Budget, which could be the last one before the UK general election. Our Insight looks at the business tax announcements made, many of which will go out for consultation. Also announced was reform to the "non-dom" regime, and our experts consider the proposed changes, including a potential broader impact on UK domiciliaries with regard to inheritance tax. A further set of announcements will be made on 18 April 2024 at a Tax Administration and Maintenance Day.
Next month sees a slew of changes to statutory employment rights and entitlements coming into force. Our employment team has prepared a helpful summary of these changes, as employers consider what policies and training for managers they may need to adapt or introduce as a result of the new rules. Our webinar on developments in data law relating to employees takes place next week and we discuss the law around retirement and age discrimination later this month.
A new regime governing operational resilience in financial services will become applicable on 17 January 2025 in the EU, with the Digital Operational Resilience Act (DORA). Our webinar looks at the implications both for technology service providers and the financial sector, and how they can prepare. And our Disputes Week of events includes a workshop on cyber security, discussing how businesses should respond in the event of an attack.
