PRS – regulations on the requirement for smoke and carbon monoxide alarms

The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (England) Regulations 2015 have been published for approval by Parliament. As suspected they provide that, from 1 October, landlords will be required to install smoke alarms on every floor of their properties in which there is a room used wholly or partly as living accommodation, carbon monoxide alarms in any room which contains a solid fuel burning combustion appliance and test them at the beginning of every tenancy.
