The future of infrastructure: Is now a critical tipping point for development and investment decisions?

2024 is likely to be a year of political change. Across the world the global financial crisis, pandemic and competing political demands have resulted in years of under-investment and a crisis in infrastructure development which is long overdue for remedy.

With political change and great need comes significant opportunities for developers, investors, lenders and suppliers. Green, utility and transport infrastructure will undoubtably feature on the political agenda with clear economic, social and environmental benefits. So, what does the future hold?

Join us at this event when The Rt Hon. Lord Andrew Adonis, the former Labour Secretary of State for Transport and the founding Chair of the National Infrastructure Commission (NIC), will give his view on the future of the UK and European infrastructure markets. 

After our keynote speaker we will host a panel discussion with leading industry participants to consider the market opportunities in the UK and Europe. This will be followed by networking drinks with our speakers and other guests.

Rt Hon Lord (Andrew) Adonis PC
Chair, National Infrastructure Commission

Both as advisor and then minister, Andrew Adonis was a key architect of Tony Blair's public service reforms in education, health, local government, policing and transport. He has deep and broad experience of the challenge of leadership, change management and policy implementation in complex organisations - and in difficult conditions.

Andrew’s experience and knowledge of both policy and infrastructure saw him appointed Chair of the newly created National Infrastructure Commission. The Commission’s role is to make long-term decisions on infrastructure projects in the UK with a view to what is necessary for the economy, what is required to realise it, and its effects.

Rebecca Collins
Managing Director (Investments) at Equitix

Rebecca is an experienced senior infrastructure equity investment professional with a prior background advising both government bodies and investors on infrastructure transactions. Her sector experience includes energy transition and process renewables, transmission, telecommunications, transport, and social and economic infrastructure.

Suparna Dar
Managing Director and Co-Head of Infrastructure Finance, Assured Guaranty

Suparna has over 20 years' experience in Infrastructure Finance, previously holding roles with investment funds and developers before joining Assured Guaranty in 2017. She was promoted to Managing Director in March 2023 and is responsible for overseeing activity across UK, Asia and Australia. Assured Guaranty has recently guaranteed funding for Metro de Madrid's replacement of rolling stock, Heathrow Airport, and Portsmouth Water's Havant Thicket reservoir. Suparna was an inaugural member of Assured’s DEI Committee where she set up and now leads the Womens Employee Resource Group.

Ricardo Piñeiro
Partner and Head of Infrastructure, Foresight

Ricardo joined Foresight in 2011 and has 17 years of experience in fund management, sustainable infrastructure investment and financing in the UK and internationally. Prior to joining Foresight, Ricardo worked at Espirito Santo Investment where he focused on lending and advisory for the energy, infrastructure and transportation sectors.

Hannah has a wide-ranging practice which includes regularly acting on greenfield project developments (particularly relating to green hydrogen, electric vehicle infrastructure, grid infrastructure and digital infrastructure).

Her clients include Macquarie's Green Investment Group, Infracapital, Glennmont Capital, HyCap (a specialist green hydrogen fund) and Vitol.
