Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

The recently created Regulatory Innovation Office is intended to speed up regulatory decisions for new technologies, in line with the government's industrial strategy. A green paper on the strategy describes the wider regulatory landscape and ability of regulators to drive growth as "key parts" of its wider growth mission, while also acknowledging that regulation can be a barrier to investment. Our Insight explores what businesses can expect from regulators as a result of the government's regulatory agenda.

The Takeover Panel has amended the jurisdictional framework of the Takeover Code, following a consultation. In streamlining the code's applicability, the changes aim to strike a balance between regulatory oversight and the needs of companies and market participants.

The government is amending the Medical Devices Regulations 2002 to impose more stringent requirements and obligations on manufacturers to undertake post-market surveillance practices on their medical devices. The new regulations are expected to come into force next summer.

And our regulatory webinar series continues next week with a look at the enforcement landscape on economic crime, with our in-person event later in the month offering a deeper exploration of the failure to prevent tax evasion offences and anti-money laundering risk in unsupervised firms, among other pressing compliance topics.
