International legal practice Osborne Clarke has leapt up seven places in the Kanzleimonitor.de rankings for 2016/17 coming in at seventeenth place, establishing itself among Germany’s top business law firms.
On behalf of the Federal Association of In-house Counsel, more than 5,000 in-house counsel from 950 companies in Germany are regularly interviewed for the Kanzleimonitor.de rankings, which are based on counsels’ recommendations in the relevant fields of law. In the current edition, 827 companies submitted 8,824 recommendations. The result is a comprehensive list of lawyers and law firms which in-house lawyers from a variety of industries and company sizes use as the selection criteria for instructing business law firms.
In the current edition, Osborne Clarke holds the top position in the IT/ telecommunications sector. The firm is also recommended by businesses from the service industry and in the wholesale, retail and mail-order business field.
When it comes to media law, Osborne Clarke is strongly recommended for both data protection and IT law, being ranked in the top 10.
It is also recommended in stock corporation and group law, employment law, banking law, corporate law, contract law, insurance law, product liability, public law, mergers and acquisitions, competition law, litigation and ADR, capital markets law as well as European law and international law.

In the past financial year, the revenue in Germany increased to about EUR 35.5 million. Overall, the firm has increased its revenue to approximately EUR 236 million.
The firm’s clients include global market leaders as well as growing companies. The German business has most recently advised, among others, ProSiebenSat.1 on merger of Aeria Games with Gamigo and further transactions, GSA on student accommodation partnership with GIC and John Laing in the acquisition of wind park Horath from Schöller Wind. It also advised figo on investment from Deutsche Börse as well as Ernst & Young on rental of 7,000 square metres of office space.
Osborne Clarke is constantly listed in the Top 20 Midcap M&A rankings, and in 2016 the firm won the AZUR award for Quality Education and Professional Training.
