International legal practice Osborne Clarke* has now received full Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) validation for its international near- and long-term commitments. Approval was received within four months of submission, and it builds on the SBTi's approval of the firm's UK commitments in November 2023.

Osborne Clarke will now move forward with an international strategy and deliver on its two commitments, which are: a near-term commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 50% across all scopes by 2030 and its long-term net-zero commitment of reaching at least a 90% reduction by 2040, against a 2021 baseline year and in the UK as per our November 2023 commitment against a FY2019/2020 baseline year.

"I speak for the entire leadership team when I say how pleased we are to have this SBTi approval. It's been a collective effort of colleagues across our teams in Belgium, China, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden and US to get to this point. I look forward to working closely everyone as we continue to progress our strategy with confidence and work towards meeting our reduction targets," said Omar Al-Nuaimi, Osborne Clarke's International CEO.

Osborne Clarke is also signatory of the #FossilToClean letter alongside 260+ other companies, and urges policymakers and businesses to accelerate the transition for phasing out fossil fuels and scaling clean solution.

Being a responsible and ethical business and employer underpins Osborne Clarke's business strategy. Sustainability commitments are managed through Osborne Clarke For Good, which is the firm's way of ensuring it is a good corporate citizen, a good employer and a good business.
