One of the fastest growing cities and the country's national capital, opening in Delhi gives BTG Legal on the ground access to industries ranging from financial services and real estate to technology and logistics whilst helping the firm expand its footprint.
BTG Legal's Delhi office launches with two Partners – Vikram Jeet Singh and Sidhartha Barua.
A corporate Partner specialising in tech, media and comms, Vikram has extensive experience in cross border M&A transactions. Having previously spent two years at BTG's offices in Mumbai, Vikram has advised clients on acquisitions in the digital payments space, industrial automation sector, card acquiring businesses through asset sales, and acquisitions of licensed entities like NBFCs, money changers and mobile wallets and regulations relating to these specialised businesses.
An expert in litigation and arbitration work, Sidhartha will be BTG Legal's disputes practice lead in Delhi. He brings 17 years' experience in public policy, law and is well versed in dealing with government regulators. Sidhartha also advises and appears for various clients in matters relating to insolvency proceedings before the NCLT and NCLAT.
Prashant Mara, Managing Partner BTG Legal, commented: "Opening in Delhi is an important part of our expansion strategy. It's the capital city where most of the ultimate courts of appeal are, a number of regulatory bodies are also based there and it's a very dynamic center for business in Northern India. We've had a number clients requesting specialised regulatory, corporate and disputes support in the region, so it's excellent to have Virkam and Sidhartha leading the team as we grow. Both of them bring strong experience, which will be invaluable for clients. The new office now means we can service clients in key cities across the North, South and West of India."
Simon Beswick, International CEO at Osborne Clarke, commented: "Our relationship with BTG Legal goes back a long way to when Prashant was part of the Osborne Clarke Team in Germany and then the UK, and it continues to grow. Prashant and the team provide a seamless high-quality service to our clients both in India and abroad."
