Osborne Clarke Italy has appointed two new partners – Andrea Bozza and Pierfilippo Capello – to its Tech, Media and Comms team in an effort to extend and develop its entertainment and sport offering.
Andrea Bozza’s expertise is in sports law, competition/antitrust and EU law, with a focus on transactions including transfers of athletes and the acquisitions of clubs as well as sports contracts.
Pierfilippo Capello specialises in sports law at national and international level and he has wide ranging expertise in sports regulation, commercial litigation and sports arbitration.
Both Partners specialise in advising individual clients such as athletes, intermediaries, trainers, club managers as well as clubs and trade associations including leagues, federations, investors, sporting brands and businesses that invest in the sector through sponsorship.
They support their clients on employment contracts, sponsorship contracts, engagements for athletes, trainers and sports managers, the transfer of athletes, agency and licensing agreements for intellectual property and audio-visual rights and international sports disputes and arbitrations including those relating to anti-doping.
Both new Partners join Osborne Clarke from Studio Legale Guardamagna e Associati.
Riccardo Roversi, Managing Partner Osborne Clarke Italy, commented:
“We have been operating in the Tech, Media and Comms sector, and specifically entertainment, for a number of years with the team led by partner Federico Ferrara who specialises in the music sector.
“Now with the arrival of Andrea and Pierfilippo, we will be further expanding our focus in entertainment to include sport. They will offer our local and international clients specialised assistance in all the aspects of this sector from the management of soft rights, to real estate transactions and their financing to corporate transactions.
“The sports sector is very dynamic and growing and we see lot of opportunities to engage with current and new clients. The National Institute for Statistic’s (ISTAT) most recent published data reports annual turnover of more than 14 billion Euro for the sector.
“Following the arrival earlier this year of Giuliano Lanzavecchia, Andrea Pinto and Andrea Rizzi, who was recently appointed the new Head of the Tech, Media and Comms sector, we are continuing with our strategy of recruiting highly qualified sector talent that will ensure we are a future-focused firm that anticipates the needs of the market.”
Pierfilippo Capello commented:
“The sporting industry is an innovative sector that is very international, which generates opportunities for work, collaboration and business development. Both Andrea and I feel joining Osborne Clarke will help us to further develop the international aspects of our practice.”
Andrea Bozza commented:
“We are extremely pleased to join Osborne Clarke’s international entertainment team and the wider Tech, Media and Comms sector. Both Pierfilippo and I believe wholeheartedly in sports law and there are numerous opportunities for us to support clients both in Italy and globally.”
