Osborne Clarke with a team led by partner Umberto Piattelli with associate Giulia Basile assisted Edison S.p.A. (a company forming part of the French EDF group) in relation to the launch of its lending crowdfunding platform, Edison Crowd, reserved to the promotion of projects connected with the management of energy.
In particular, the platform will support, among its other activities, the construction of a mini-hydroelectric power plant in the Municipality of Palestro, offering all the town population the opportunity to participate in the construction of the plant.
The hydroelectric plant under construction is located on the left bank of the Sesia River in the Municipality of Palestro within the area of the Est-Sesia Irriguo Consortium. The plant, fully integrated in the context and in the surrounding landscape, has an installed capacity of 4,500 kW and is a small-sized flowing water plant (so-called mini-hydroelectric plant).
It is expected to produce about 13,500,000 kWh per year, corresponding to the energy needs of about 4,500 families. It is all energy from a renewable source that does not involve any CO2 emissions, and therefore does not contribute to global warming of the planet, and reduces the share of energy produced from fossil fuels. Thanks to the Palestro plant, the emission of 6,000 tons of CO2 per year will be avoided.
