International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised Hanover, a leading international public relations consultancy, head-quartered in London, on its sale to Avenir Global of Canada. The transaction brings Hanover, including its offices in Brussels, Dublin, Dubai and Abu Dhabi into the Avenir Group in an innovative structure.
This was the second time in the last twelve months that Osborne Clarke has advised on an acquisition by Avenir, having also advised the sellers of Cherry, a leading creative services healthcare marketing company, in 2018.
Osborne Clarke's market-leading, specialist M&A team has acted on many of the most transformative transactions in the converging marketing services, brand, product/design innovation and communications sectors and this is the fourth transaction the team has completed in 2019 to date.
The Osborne Clarke team was led by Tim Birt (corporate), Michael Carter (incentives/structuring) and Mat Oliver (tax), with support from Osborne Clarke's specialist practices.
Tim Birt commented: "We have worked with Hanover for the last three years, particularly as they have expanded internationally. While the current M&A environment in the marketing services, brand, product/design innovation and communications sectors remains complex (and in some areas continues to be challenging), Avenir's acquisition of Hanover shows, yet again, that the combination of exceptional companies supported by specialist advice, can achieve significant results."
