International legal practice Osborne Clarke has advised Caledonia Investments plc, on its £152.5m sale of Choice Care Group ("Choice"), a leading provider of residential and supported living services, to iCon Infrastructure Partners, IV L.P.
Founded in 1992, Choice is one of the UK's leading residential care providers, focused on people with learning disabilities and mental health conditions. The sale marks the culmination of a successful five-year period of ownership for Caledonia Investments following its acquisition of Choice, then valued at £86m, in 2013.
Osborne Clarke Private Equity Partner, Mark Spinner, who led the team advising Caledonia Investments on the sale, commented: "Having advised Caledonia Investments on its acquisition of Choice in 2013, we've been involved throughout the entire cycle of this investment. Over the intervening years we've also worked with the Choice management team and Caledonia Investments as they have grown the business. It really is a pleasure to see both teams realising so much value from what is an extremely high quality business."
Charlie Edwards, of Caledonia Investments commented: "Mark and the Osborne Clarke team have been involved at every stage of our investment in Choice. Their work has always been high quality and they are incredibly easy to work with – I look forward to working with them on other investments in the future."
Edwina Johnston, Chief Executive at Choice commented: "Choice has grown significantly under the stewardship of Caledonian Investments, and the Osborne Clarke team has been there at every stage to offer strategic and practical legal advice. As a result Choice is in a great position to develop further under iCon's ownership."
