Laurens is a Partner in the IT & IP team in Brussels.
Laurens has extensive experience in all aspects of information technology law including IT contracting, IT litigation, internet regulation, communications law, and cyber security.
He regularly assists clients in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of domestic and cross-border contracts (outsourcing, technology licensing, software integration, hosting services, managed services, cloud computing etc.) for both IT services providers and business users from start-ups to multinational companies. Laurens particularly focusses on IT contracting in regulated sectors such as the financial and insurance industry, the public sector and healthcare industry and complex digital transformation projects.
Laurens is seasoned on most matters related to cybersecurity and data protection and he regularly advises clients on cybersecurity incidents and cybersecurity governance.
He also has expertise on internet regulatory issues including e-commerce and platform regulation and has worked on secondment at the wholesale department of a major Belgian telecom operator.
Laurens was admitted to the Brussels bar in 2008 and has joined Osborne Clarke’s Brussels office in 2018. He obtained his Master's degree from the Catholic University of Leuven (Belgium), completed an LL.M in ICT Law at that university in 2008 and obtained a certification of the MBA Highlights Program from INSEAD in 2017. He is also a member of various sector organisations including Itech and Beltug and is referenced in Legal 500 for his work in the IT sector.
