Helen Raynsford

Helen is a Legal Director in our Projects team. She is an energy expert and advises developers, governmental bodies, network operators, investors and offtakers on commercial transactions and regulatory compliance in the energy sector.

A key focus of Helen's work is energy offtake and revenue streams, and the regulatory framework applying to these, having advised on power purchase agreements, optimisation agreements and subsidy schemes across a range of technologies. This includes offshore wind, solar, hydrogen, and stand-alone and co-located battery storage.

More broadly, Helen has experience of advising clients on the lifecycle of an energy project, from early-stage development through to secondary market transactions during a project's operational phase and the regulatory regime applying to such energy projects. As such, she has a deep knowledge of the broader context framing energy offtake transactions.

Helen's extensive knowledge of the regulatory framework and the commercial drivers and tensions at play in energy offtake transactions has been acquired both in private practice and in-house at Lightsource bp. This experience underpins Helen's commercial, collaborative and pragmatic approach.
