6 March 2015 marked the first anniversary of the coming into force of Council Regulation (EU) No 208/2014, which froze the assets of certain members of the former government of Ukraine and was passed by the Council of the European Union in response to the escalating violence in Ukraine. Over a year on, the EU continues to pass sanctions legislation (with direct effect in EU member states) and looks set to continue to do so. Read the full article here.

On 6 May 2015 the European Commission will unveil its comprehensive “Digital Single Market Strategy”. Taking “ambitious legislative steps towards a connected digital single market” was a key part of Jean-Claude Juncker’s campaign to be President of the European Commission. Now that his Commission is in place, this has become a centrepiece of the Commission’s 2015 Work Programme. Read more about it here
