Protection of intellectual property rights in the enterprise: EU regulatory aspects
Published on 22nd Sep 2023
New rules in the area of intellectual property law will help protect users of online platforms from illegal content and improve the removal of illegal content, thus strengthening copyright protection.
The Digital Markets Directive (DMA) will also set criteria for identifying large online platforms as access gatekeepers and give the European Commission the power to conduct market studies, enabling it to update access gatekeeper duties and sanction inappropriate behavior if necessary.
The Digital Services Directive (DSA) will give greater control over what audiences see online: users will have better information about why specific creative content is recommended to them.
