Ulrich Bäumer, Partner and India expert at Osborne Clarke commented:

“India is one of the most rapidly growing economies in the world, with the current economic growth amounting to 7.3%. It’s an attractive growing market, especially for the sectors of IT, textiles, automotive, engineering and pharmacy. India poses a profitable investment objective for many foreign companies and offers a highly promising business environment for German companies. The potential of economic relationships between Germany and India is enormous, especially with respect to the follow up of Hanover fair, where India was a partner country in 2015. We would like to expressly thank the city of Cologne, Cologne’s mayor Jürgen Roters and Rautenstrauch-Joest Museum for their excellent support.”

The Cologne/Bonn-India Business Club, an India network which was established due to Osborne Clarke’s and DHL’s initiative, was set up in 2008. Furthermore, networks such as the Indo-German Business Forum and German-Indian-Round-Table (GIRT) also help to support the economic relationship between Germany and India.

Osborne Clarke has been advising Indian companies on building up and expanding their business in Europe as well as German companies on their activities in India for many years. As in the past years, Osborne Clarke belongs to the initiators, organizers and operators of the India Week. Partner Ulrich Bäumer is the host of the opening event on 12 June, the pre-evening event on 23 June and presenter of the Sourcing Days (ICT) on 24 June, which is organized together with WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management and IDG Verlag, a publishing house which amongst others publishes the magazines Computerwoche and CIO Magazin.
