UK Knowledge Collection | How 2023 is turning out, digital assets and English law, employees and AI

Welcome to this week's Knowledge Collection

Green code on smartphone and laptop screens

At the start of the year our knowledge lawyers made a number of predictions about business law developments. As we look ahead to autumn, we have reviewed how events have unfolded and what else to watch out for, as several significant bills (on economic crime, procurement, and digital markets) continue their journey through Parliament.

In September, we will be discussing the impact of the new procurement legislation, which is expected to pass in the autumn. Our series begins with a webinar on monitoring supplier performance, exclusion and debarment.

Developments in artificial intelligence (AI) continue to make headlines around the world, and our update on employment law takes a look at the impact of AI on employee relations.

Technological leaps also have implications more broadly for the treatment of property rights. The Law Commission has published a detailed report on digital assets, making recommendations that have the potential to have a significant impact on legal certainty with regard to cryptoassets and other digital property. Whether and how far the report will be implemented remains to be seen.
