When problems arise in connection with trusts or estates, our aim is to investigate the problem thoroughly and to achieve, wherever possible, a negotiated settlement without recourse to the Courts. Our Trusts and Estate Disputes unit comprises both private client lawyers as well as litigators, which means that we have a thorough understanding of the issues and are able to approach what are often very delicate family issues, in a sensitive and sympathetic way.
Our clients include individuals, charities, trust companies, banks and other financial institutions, and we have wide experience of acting for those bringing claims, as well as those resisting them. Our UK-based work covers advice concerning the validity of wills and trusts, advising those who are unhappy about the provision made for them under wills as well as advising those resisting such claims. We also deal with disputes between beneficiaries and trustees.
We are increasingly involved in disputes concerning trusts established in foreign jurisdictions, and we are able to act as a single point of contact in co-ordinating foreign legal advice where necessary.
