International Tax and Trusts
divider
Today's increasingly complex tax regime and the growing trend towards economic globalisation means that many families plan ahead based on international, rather than merely national, criteria.

We provide specialist advice on English law and UK tax to many clients who have financial or family interests both inside and outside the UK. We advise on residence, tax and domicile issues for overseas individuals who wish to live, work or invest in the UK, and UK individuals who move overseas.

We also act for the trustees and beneficiaries of many non-resident trusts and advise on the creation of new offshore trusts and companies in low tax jurisdictions, as well as the tax-efficient termination or restructuring of existing trust structures.

Any form of tax planning that involves more than one jurisdiction is a complex area. Osborne Clarke's international network means we can provide seamless national and international tax advice, across a number of legal jurisdictions. More and more of our clients have international connections, and we are able to act as a single point of contact in co-ordinating foreign legal and tax advice where it is necessary.

Our clients include various individuals and trust funds and trust companies. They all share one key objective in common; that of successfully minimising their tax liabilities by using a global wealth management plan.

Examples of our recent experience include:
  • advising the trustees of a series of offshore settlements worth in excess of £20m on tax mitigation
  • providing general advice to the trustees of a Bahamas trust valued at US$150m
  • providing tax planning advice to a UK resident American citizen on his c. US$40m estate
